Fly Like Brick - Wingsuit News #4

August 1st, 2007

Good morning,

My name is Jarno Cordia, and this is a newsletter from the FlyLikeBrick Birdman team.

Through these emails we will keep you updated on European wingsuit events (mostly Belgium and Holland) and other wingsuit related news and developments. We will try and put out an email roughly once a month, depending on the amount of news and events.

Flight Schedule

ToraTora Meet

From August 29 till September 2nd, we will be at the ToraTora meet at Skydive Spa (Belgium).

If you're planning on coming, please send us an email at flylikebrick@gmail.com or post your name in this thread at dropzone.com so we have a rough idea on the amount of wingsuit flyers we can expect.

Depending on the amount of people showing up, we wil jump in 2 groups. Intermediate/beginners and advanced. The advanced group wil only be made up of people who can fly a slot, and wil aim to fly complete formations.

The event is also interesting for those not flying a wingsuit (though its concidered cheating if you take the wingsuit off and go freeflying;). There are quite a few high level freefly coaches present, next to a lot of capable flyers and cameramen.

For more events in the near and far future, check out the wingsuit events calander at the main page of our website

Past flights

We had quite a few events the past month.

First off was the warm-up boogie we held at Schaffen (belgium)

Attendance was quite high. With close to 30 flyers on both days.

Though the weather wasnt excactly cooperating, we managed to squeeze 4 to 5 jumps per day in, through the cloudy skies. Conditions werent optimal, but looking back, I think everyone managed to fly really well, improving a lot over the course of just a few jumps, and keeping the event safe and positive start to end.

Directly after Belgium, the airfield at Cochstedt was the place to fly and party.

Even though the big An72 broke down halfway through the week, the replacement Skyvans and An2 managed to keep everyone smiling till the end. Again, the weather didnt cooperate all that much, but with 15 to 20 jumps, most people came away from the boogie smiling.

Hungary, International GoFast Distance competition.

After germany, I was asked to come to Hungary to help out with load organising at the wingsuit event. The attendence was quite high, and we made some nice jumps with a cool group of people, who (up to that point) focussed most on flying for distance. Flocking being a whole new thing. The whole week was blessed with good weather (39 degrees celcius, blue skies, and hardly any wind), and I even managed to participate (and score 3d) in the distance competition in between flocking and coaching jumps, and even sunset balloonjumps at the end of each day.

Definately an event I can recommend to anyone, and Ill definately be back next year!

Friesche Ballonfeesten

We where asked to come and jump at a Balloonfestival in Friesland (upper region of holland).

We did some jumps with wingsuits and smoke from the balloon. Giving the people on the ground a nice show. Crowds of 2000 to 3000 people attended the 4 day festival daily. Definately a great event to be at. More news on flylikebrick/topgun events and demos in a few weeks!

That also concludes the roundup of Juli. Lets hope next month is just as good!

Wingsuits

If you're looking for a 2nd hand suit. Check out the for sale gallery at our website.

If its a new suit you're interested in buying, we can hook you up with most demo's from Birdman products. We have a Birdman Blade to demo for those intrested.

Its one of the largest suits out there at the moment, definately not aimed at beginners. It features double inflation and airlocks. Suitable for both belly and backflying.

If you are interested in trying the suit. Just ask, and we'll gladly let you demo one of our suits (granted you have proper experience flying smaller suits).

Its possible to meet outside of the big events for demo jumps, 1st flight courses and coaching jumps. We can usualy be found at dropzones such as schaffen (Belgium) and rotterdam (Netherlands).

If you're interested in making a first flight (or know someone else who wants to), getting advanced 1 on 1 coaching from our 10 jump dynamic flight program, or want to rent one of our beginner suits for a jump, just send us an email!

If you dont want to recieve this email, just send us an email with the subject unsubscribe, and we'll take you off our list.

Sincerely,

Jarno Cordia
