Flocking in .be

June 10/11 marked the first of the FlyLikeBrick wingsuit weekends.
FLB organised a small event at the dropzone Schaffen (Belgium).
The weather forcast promised clear blue skies and 28 tot 30 degree celcius temperatures for the entire weekend. And a total of 10 wingsuiters showed up at the dropzone.
Most of them from Belgium, but a few from as far as Germany and the UK.

Costyn en Jarno took on the role of load-organisers.
Saturday started with a briefing on safety in flocks, the way to approach a formation, what to do when low, the way exits are performed when flying with bigger groups etc.
After this, Costyn took the big group under his wing, and flew formations from 5 up to 7 flyers. Jarno spent the weekend doing small 2 and 3 way jumps with the lesser experienced birds, trying to get them up to speed for bigger formations. With some practice jumps on flying a slot, different exits, upfloating etc.
Each jump was properly debriefed on video afterward. Which noticably improved the exits and everyones flying over the weekend.
The saterday ended with a swoop and chug and a nice BBQ, hosted by the dropzone.
A holding due to heavy airtraffic prompted a jump-in at neighbouring dropzone Zwartberg on sunday.
In total, around 11 loads of wingsuit jumps where flown over the weekend.

Here is what Darren Bull (UK) had to say about the weekend:

An 'Ad-Hoc' weekend of wingsuiting in Belgium !
I came along to the DZ with Jarno and Costyn.....for a little bit of coaching, but not long after arriving we found a bunch of wingsuiters on the DZ, eager to flock.
Jarno and Costyn did a great job at getting everyone together, grouping flockers to their experience levels and putting together some challenging dives.
I think its fair to say , everyone enjoyed themselves and benefitted from good instruction, tips and advice provided by Jarno and Costyn.......the TV monitors were crowded at the end of the dives...with everyone eager to see the footage and debrief it.
Costyn did a great job on his stills and got some really nice shots that everyone enjoyed.

Thanks again Jarno and Costyn!
